Other Types of Fsus2 Guitar Chord

However, one way that you can do this is by using a capo to discover creative and interesting chords. Let’s take a look at these chords.

Fsus2 Guitar Chord: A Dsus2 Shape With A Capo On The 3rd Fret

An Fsus2 is pretty frequently used in the form of a Dsus2 chord shape with the capo on the third fret.

Ian Anderson uses this form of the Fsus2 guitar chord in Jethro Tull’s masterpiece, Thick as a Brick.

It’s 42 minutes of Hobbity goodness, so nobody’s expecting you to use your whole lunch break listening to it, but the first part of the song has plenty of Fsus2 in it, played as a Dsus2 with the capo on the third fret.

You can hear it in this edit.

Fsus2 Guitar Chord: An Asus2 Shape With A Capo On The 8th Fret

You can also find an Fsus2 guitar chord in an easy Asus2 shape when you use your capo on the eighth fret.

Lindsey Buckingham used a capo on the eighth fret with the Asus2 shape to play an Fsus2 guitar chord for the 12-string guitar track on Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way.”

If you’d like to capture that sound, grab your capo and this shape, and even with only six strings, it sounds pretty great. Here’s some isolated guitars on the song for your listening pleasure.

The Brother of The Fsus2 Guitar Chord: The Fadd9

The Fsus2 guitar chord is also very similar to the Fadd9 chord. This chord was used famously in this Beatles song, check it out here:

To make an Fadd9, you can just add your pinky to the F major chord, like this.

The chord sounds different than the Fsus2, but only slightly, mostly because the G is added to the top of the chord.

This chord can be used as a substitute for either an F major or Fsus2 guitar chord.

  • F – Fsus4 – F – Fsus2

This works perfectly when you want to add some movement in between an F chord.

What’s Fsus4 Chord?

If you can’t play the Fsus4 chord, check out this chordbox below.

When you are making the Fsus4 chord, it may be helpful to make the F chord shape and then just add your fourth finger to the D string third fret.

ince the Fsus4 – F – Fsus2 progression circles around the F shape, it’s easier to get in and out of the sus chords if you remember that they’re just modifications to the F shape as opposed to brand new shapes.

You can use this sus chord cycle whenever you want to dress up the F chord!
