Tip #2 Use The Tips of Your Fingers

When you fret guitar chords you must use the tips of your fingers. Make sure that you fret the note as close to your finger nail as possible.

This creates space between your finger on the fret board and stops any dead notes.

Tip #3 Keep Your Fingers Straight

When you play guitar chords, your fingers MUST be as straight as possible.

Your first knuckle must be straight, whilst the rest of your hand arches over the fret board.

Here’s an example of what your hand should look like:

What’s the quickest way to learn guitar chords?

The fastest way to learn guitar chords is to learn easy chords first.

Remember, there is ALWAYS an easier way to play a chord.

When you learn easy chords first, you are gradually building up your dexterity and technique. So, when it comes to tackling more advanced chords, these will be MUCH easier to play.

Learning more advanced chords first is detrimental to your progress as a beginner. Be smart, learn easy chords first. (Advanced chords come later!)

How do I remember guitar chords?

The secret to remembering guitar chords is:

Squeeze your hand after you’ve learned a new chord.

This engages your muscle memory. When you squeeze your hand, you are teaching your hand to memorise the chord.

However, be careful. Your chord must be right, BEFORE you squeeze your hand.

If it is incorrect, you will be teaching yourself to remember the wrong chord.
